Install Hop
Install Hop Island, Hop Clipper or both with the Windows installer.
This is the recommended way to install Hop. The installer holds both apps and everything they need, including FFmpeg for the clipper.
Download the newest installer from the download page, then run it.
Important
Hop needs Windows 10 version 1809 or newer, or Windows 11, on a 64-bit PC. The installer will not run on anything older.
Hop Island also needs the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. Windows 11 already has it.
Running the installer
The installer is named HopSetup-x.y.z.exe, where x.y.z is the version. It installs for your user only, so it never asks for admin rights.
Warning
The installer is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may stop it with "Windows protected your PC".
If you downloaded it from this site or from Hop's GitHub releases, choose More info and then Run anyway.
Choosing what to install
| Choice | What you get |
|---|---|
| Hop Island and Hop Clipper | Both apps. This is the default. |
| Hop Island only | The island, without clips or the record button. |
| Hop Clipper only | The clipper and FFmpeg, with a tray icon. |
You can also choose whether each app starts with Windows, and whether to add desktop shortcuts (off by default).
Recommended settings or Customize now
Keep Use the recommended settings to finish right away, or pick Customize now to set these before the first start:
- Hop Island: your city for prayer times and weather, the prayer time calculation method, the Asr time, the island's size, and what sits left and right of the song.
- Hop Clipper: how much
F8saves, the frame rate, the quality, the clips folder, the watermark and the save sound.
Everything on those pages can be changed later in the island's settings app.
Where Hop is installed
The apps go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Hop. Your settings are kept apart from the apps, so updates and reinstalls leave them alone. See Files and Settings.
After installing
The installer offers to start both apps. Hop Island appears as a pill at the top of your screen, and Hop Clipper as a bunny icon in the system tray. Press F8 to save your first clip.
